Opnext Expands 10G Transceiver Line

Opnext, Inc., a global leader in high-performance optical components, today announced it has extended its line of 300-pin transceivers with the new TRV709A, a widely tunable transceiver for use in metro and long haul DWDM applications. Opnext's TRV709A provides superior optical and electrical performance while offering minimum size impact, and will be deployed by optical communications system makers in the datacom and telecom markets. It will be showcased at the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC) 2003.

Opnext is a co-founder of the 300-pin 10G MSA, and its existing 300-pin transponder and transceiver portfolio covers all applications, from legacy fiber to long reach (80km and WDM). The new, highly integrated TRV709A includes a tunable laser that is capable of tuning full C-band with wavelength spacing of 50GHz, and supports multiple rates from 9.95Gbit/s to 10.71Gbit/s. It also features a LiNbO3Mach-Zehnder modulator, high-sensitivity APD, jitter filter, along with mux/demux in a 300-pin MSA-compliant package measuring 3.5"x4.5"x0.53".

Opnext's SFP portfolio consists of more than 30 individual products and covers all standard bit rates and protocols, from GbE and FC, to 155Mbit/s, 622Mbit/s and 2.5Gbit/s for SONET, SDH and ATM applications. The distances supported range from very short reach multimode applications, for the GbE and FC protocols, all the way up to 80km and beyond for the SONET, SDH and GbE protocols. The transceiver designs have been optimized for cost and performance, can operate across extended temperature ranges, and provide advanced real-time performance monitoring capabilities.

Further MSA-compliant modules on display include Opnext's XENPAK, X2 and XFP 10-Gbit/s pluggable transceivers. These products are based on Opnext's universal optical subassembly platform, and augmented by Opnext's demonstrated expertise in building leading-edge 10Gbit/s devices and modules.
