U.S. Cellular Unveiled $610 Million Agreement with CDMA Wireless Carrier PrimeCo to Buy its Assets in Chicago Major Trading Area (MTA)
May 13, 2002 U.S. Cellular unveiled $610 million agreement with CDMA wireless carrier PrimeCo to buy its assets in Chicago major trading area (MTA), including 20 MHz PCS license that covers 13.1 million people in 4 states. U.S. Cellular said it planned to finance cash purchase from sources that included banks and bonds. PrimeCo has 350,000 subscribers in Greater Chicago area. "This transaction significantly strengthens our Midwest market, which is the company's largest operation," U.S. Cellular Chmn. LeRoy Carlson said. He said Chicago MTA was 4th largest in country.
