MetroPCS announces today that this week marks its two-year anniversary of launching service and the sign-up of its one millionth customer. MetroPCS provides unlimited anytime local and long distance wireless service for one flat monthly rate with no contract in metropolitan markets including Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco and Sacramento. The company's success in attracting customers with its offer is attributed to its' philosophy of providing innovative, convenient and hassle-free wireless service.

MetroPCS' customer growth, which is a direct result of its unlimited calling plans, follows a trend of consumers spending more time on their wireless phones. According to a recent survey by Yankee Group, wireless subscribers in the U.S. now spend more minutes talking on their cell phones than they do on traditional landline phones. MetroPCS service plans start at $35 per month for unlimited, anytime local calling and for $40 per month customers also enjoy unlimited, anytime domestic long distance service. MetroPCS service requires no contract and no credit check.

To thank its loyal customers, MetroPCS is giving a free year of service to one subscriber in each of its markets with the longest, uninterrupted service. This offer further demonstrates MetroPCS' philosophy of giving consumers what they want and taking the worry out of wireless.

MetroPCS built its own 3G network from the ground up, completing the build-out in 2002 utilizing Lucent Technologies equipment. The all-digital network utilizes third generation infrastructure and handsets.
